Governments must rapidly respond to pollution of the earth's oceans. The impact of pollution on the earth's oceans and the flora and fauna that inhabits the oceans is staggering. Environmental objectives and targets increase corporate profitability. Hence, there is no incentive to enforce controls on the corporate pollution of oceans. The more concerning issue is pollution caused by the recreational activities of the general population. Fishing waste is one of the greatest threats to ocean flora and fauna. Governments must act to address this issue.
